Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a parasitic fungus that grows primarily on birch trees and appears like a lump of burnt charcoal. But inside lies one of the most revered mushrooms in traditional medicine.

At Coeur Sauvage, we sustainably forage Chaga from the Scottish Highlands, carefully dried at low temperatures to retain all bioactive benefits. It is then powdered for ease of dual-extraction or medicinal use.

Chaga is increasingly at risk in Scotland due to overharvesting and slow growth. As a responsible foraging company, we believe it should be offered only to those with a justifiable therapeutic need. If you do not have specific therapeutic need we invite you to consider our white chaga (birch polypores) as an alternative. Our white chaga has similar properties than Chaga and is a more sustainable option.  This helps us preserve the wild Chaga population for future generations.
